these characters are real to me

(The title of this post is an inside joke that I share with Peter. At least, I think it is...)

In August 2001, I had a relationship end suddenly. Luckily, the cable provider for my apartment complex was running a free trial of a movie network (read: low-budget HBO equivalent), so I didn't have to find all of my comfort in ice cream and anonymous sex. That's when I started watching Six Feet Under.

From the outset, I was hooked. The show took me away to Los Angeles, and I got swept up in the lives of the Fisher family. Eventually, the series was picked up on the Showcase channel in Canada, but it was always very far behind HBO's broadcast. I was content to wait--the show was worth it.

So that's why I'm just now watching the final season. I've resisted the urge to go on a renting spree at the video store, limiting myself to any episodes I missed from Showcase.

Even after five seasons, and even if I'm watching the show on tape or DVD, I still watch the stunningly beautiful opening credits. The music, the font... I just love it.

So, please excuse me for my absence the last few days. There has been a death in my television family.

Only two episodes left...

Rouge, that show has been cancelled. I just thought I should tell you. There is no season 6.

You know that whole season was supposed to be a dream, like Pam in Dallas.

You know, the one where Bobby suddenly walks out of the shower, after she thought he was dead (and I'm not talking about his career)?

Wifezilla and I rented the first 4 seasons on DVD in a month. Then had to anxiously wait for 5 to come out on DVD, because we didn't want to risk watching the wrong episode on Showcase.

It was captivating.

OMFG! I loved this show...I've seen the entire series all the way through twice.

You are going to LOVE the final episode.

Why couldn't they continue the great conversations with corpses that were quite prevalent in season 1 - one of the things I liked best. Rachael Griffiths character (and family) didn't hurt.

I wanted them to continue the twisted fake advertisements after the 1st season.
Like the hot chick on the beach during the embalming fluid ad. "For the live look!"

liq: no, you don't. Please... we all love looking at your abs too much

dickey: I especially liked the use of dream sequences throughout the series

crucie: the Chenowiths were definitely part of the charm. Joanna Cassidy is THE SHIZNIT!

salem, thistle: get thee to Video Hut (Margaret Cho intonation)

Natasha: shut up, you know I cried at The Uptown when I saw it with J. (I also cried when Anya died in Buffy.)

Pablo: several people I know are "concerned for my well-being" when I do eventually see it.

Timmy, Jason: you know I was the kid that tried to make my Hallowe'en candy last as long as possible, right?

Steven: don't start with me on Bobby Ewing. He was my first love.

too bad they cancelled the show. I got really depressed when Ally Mcbeal ended too.

Are you ok? You haven't posted in at least a year. Maybe you have "retarded" disease.

I got hooked to this show too! I haven't seen the most recent seasons though. I wonder what Nate and his ex girlfriend with the crazy parents who are psychologists are up to and whether his brother is still dating the cop or not.
