The more you know...

I saw Toni Collette on tv Friday night, performing at the Live Earth concert in Sydney Australia. I had no idea she could sing. Apparently, she has a band: Toni and the Finish.

Last night, I got more proof of her singing ability when a local station aired Connie and Carla. Not the best movie, but alright to have on in the background as I fold laundry. At least I learned something: the etymology of drag. (If Nia Vardalos is right, it's an acronym for "dressed resembling a girl" and originated in Shakespeare. I don't remember that from my Shakespearean English course at university, but then again, the professor was atrocious.)

It's never too late to expand your gay horizons. On Saturday, I had sex with a gay trucker. [Strikes item from list.] No, it wasn't in the sleeper cab.

I have been preoccupied with a new home computer. Thanks to my friend YJA, I now have a much faster, up-to-date machine. And thanks to my friends Marc and Jason, it's now set up and running smoothly.

This should mean more attentive/regular blogging!

The only scene in that movie that made me laugh was the coke explosion in the car. The rest was ok. The ending was English Professor atrocious.

I saw Boys in the Band on Sunday while I did my laundry. I get extra gay points on my card.

I'm jealous of the gay trucker sex.

I thought the movie's funniest scene was all of the gay bar throwing its hands in the air to "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" and singing along.

I agree: atrocious. Thankfully Toni Collette's talent carried her far, far away from this vehicle.

The GTS was pretty good. But I think he likes me a lot more than I like him. I hate when that happens.

Okay, I love love love Toni Collette. LOVE. We're talking true love, here.

Also, Jesus! Gay trucker sex? And...he likes you more than you like him? Now, wait a minute. Don't ya see? It happens that way on both sides to everyone.

Anyways, I'll be waiting for these sex pics to show up in my email.

I saw that on Friday night, too. I went out shortly afterward and asked everybody I saw "did you know Toni Collette had a band?". Where were you? oh right.. Hanging out at the Husky.

I like the intro with all the different songs and clever costume change.
That, and I'm a sucker for someone who puts cake frosting in the face when the door bell rings and you're not in your drag outfit... thanks Mrs. Doubtfire, you taught these girls well.

Were you at a truck stop? It sounds like a good time. The best news though is that you'll be blogging regularly!

Since the actors were all male during Shakespeare's time, they had to dress up as women if they wanted to have female characters...but then dressing up in drag also permeated the story lines in the plays as in Twelf Night, where Rosalind dresses up as a man. You can imagine that it probably got confusing for audiences, seeing men dressed up as women dressed up as men.

Been awhile. Speaking of trucking, I happened thru Scranton, Penn the other wk which got me thinking of a stupid song: 30k lbs. of Bananas, and time when truck songs were a fad. Are they still listening to DW McCall and Red Sovine?

Hope you are well.

For some reason, I'm getting a mental picture of some burly guy pulling on the horn-string that falls from the trucker cab's ceiling.
